West Northamptonshire

The Daventry Branch

A market town and eighty villages that were governed from somewhere else, by people who never asked. We are building the branch that changes that.

From the Branch Organiser

Daventry District was abolished in 2021. Nobody in Daventry voted for that. The decision was taken, the signage was changed, and the town woke up governed from Northampton by an authority most people here could not name.

That is the small version of a large story. Decisions about this place are consistently made somewhere else, by people who will never live with the consequences. Housing targets arrive as a number on a spreadsheet. Warehousing spreads across farmland that fed this county for a thousand years. The bus routes that connected the villages were cut, and nobody came to explain why. When people object, they are told the consultation has closed.

None of this is an accident of administration. It is what happens when a political class stops regarding the people it governs as a people at all, and starts regarding them as a population to be managed.

Together, we will Restore Britain. Rupert Lowe, Leader of Restore Britain

A national party is only as real as its branches. Westminster is a long way from Badby and Braunston. What decides whether Restore Britain becomes a serious force in this country is not what happens on television, it is whether there are people in every market town in England willing to do the unglamorous work: knock the doors, deliver the leaflets, staff the stall, stand for the parish council, and turn up when it is raining.

That is what this branch is for. If you live in Daventry or any of the surrounding villages, and you have spent years watching this country decline while being told you are imagining it, there is a place for you here.

Our Priorities

Five things Daventry needs

National policy is set nationally. These are the five fronts on which it has to be fought here, in this town and these villages.

Immigration & Asylum

Nobody here was asked.

Dispersal decisions land on Northamptonshire from Whitehall, without consultation, without consent, and without anyone accountable to the people who live with them. The branch opposes them, and says so publicly, every time.

Housing & Planning

Build for us, not for a target.

Estates are bolted onto villages that have no school places, no surgery capacity and no bus. The number comes first and the place comes second. Reverse that order and planning starts working again.

Economy & Local Business

A town centre worth walking into.

Daventry's high street has been hollowed out while the district fills with distribution sheds. Warehousing is not an economy, it is a corridor. Back the people who actually trade here.

Crime & Policing

Police the streets, not opinions.

Rural theft goes uninvestigated, shoplifting is effectively decriminalised, and the response time to a village is measured in hours. Meanwhile officers have time to visit people over things they posted. That is a choice, and it can be unmade.

Roads, Transport & Infrastructure

Reconnect the villages.

Bus routes were withdrawn and never replaced, which quietly stranded the old and the young in villages that used to be part of a district. Roads are left to fail until they are dangerous. Fix the connective tissue first.

Animal Welfare

Stun before slaughter. No exceptions.

British law requires animals to be stunned before they are killed, then exempts those slaughtered by religious rite. The British Veterinary Association, the RSPCA and the Government's own advisers have all called for that exemption to end. Rupert Lowe forced the Commons debate on it. We would close it.

Our Work

What the branch actually does

01

Doorstep organising

Sustained leaflet distribution and canvassing across Daventry town and the surrounding villages. Not a burst before an election, a permanent presence.

02

Local scrutiny

Watching West Northamptonshire Council. Planning applications, spending decisions, consultations that are announced quietly and closed quickly. Freedom of Information where it is warranted.

03

Candidates and council seats

Identifying, preparing and standing candidates for parish, town and unitary elections. Power in this country is still won ward by ward.

04

Public meetings

Regular branch meetings, open to members and to anyone considering joining. Speakers, discussion, and the practical business of organising.

05

Village presence

The villages are not an afterthought. They are the majority of this area's territory and a large share of its people, and they have been ignored the longest.

06

Bringing people together

Most people who agree with us think they are alone. The first job of a branch is to prove to them that they are not.

Where We Organise

Daventry and the villages

The branch covers Daventry town and the settlements of the former Daventry District, now absorbed into West Northamptonshire.

  • Daventry
  • Badby
  • Braunston
  • Brixworth
  • Byfield
  • Crick
  • Dodford
  • Everdon
  • Flore
  • Guilsborough
  • Long Buckby
  • Moulton
  • Naseby
  • Newnham
  • Norton
  • Ravensthorpe
  • Staverton
  • Weedon Bec
  • Welford
  • Woodford Halse

This list is indicative. The branch's distribution plan covers approximately eighty settlements. If your village is not shown, it is still covered, and we would like to hear from you.

Get Involved

There is more work than there are people

You do not need experience. You do not need to be able to give up your evenings. The branch runs on people doing what they can, consistently.

Deliver in your village

An hour a month, on your own street. This is the single most useful thing anyone can do, and the thing we always need more of.

Come to a branch meeting

Meet the people doing this. Ask hard questions. Decide afterwards whether it is for you.

Stand for election

Parish and town council seats go uncontested every cycle. If you have ever thought someone should do something, it can be you.

Join the party

Membership is handled nationally and it is what funds all of this. It takes two minutes.
